“Grooming table cover” can mean a dust cover for storage, a fitted fabric topper or a replacement working mat. Those products solve different problems. Identify which one you need before choosing a size, because a cover that protects the table in a closet may be unsuitable beneath a standing dog.
A storage cover stays off during use
A storage cover can protect a clean, dry table from ordinary dust between sessions. It is not a repair for a damaged top or evidence that the equipment can be stored outdoors. Check the table’s storage instructions and keep the cover away from controls, hinges and areas where trapped moisture could remain unnoticed.
Measure the stored shape rather than the working footprint. Does the table stand assembled, fold flat, or have an arm that is removed? A cover described by tabletop length may not accommodate a tall overhead arm. An oversized cover can also trail on the floor and snag when the table is moved.
A towel changes the surface under the dog
A towel laid loosely across a textured top creates another layer that may shift, bunch or conceal a raised mat edge. Do not assume the towel provides the same grip as the original surface. A fabric layer that feels secure when pressed with one hand may move differently when a dog changes position.
If a manufacturer approves a specific fitted working cover, follow its attachment and care instructions. Check the complete fit before use and stop if it slips. Avoid tying corners beneath moving components or using loose clips that can interfere with the arm. Traction should come from a suitable, correctly fitted surface rather than an improvised arrangement.
Replacement mats need different measurements
The outside tabletop size and replaceable area may differ. Flying Pig lists a 45 by 25.25 inch complete top for the FP3000A, but a 43.25 by 23.75 inch removable area. That example shows why buying a mat by the headline table size can give the wrong result.
Match the attachment method, corners, thickness and any arm cutouts as well as length and width. Our mat replacement guide covers the measurement process. Do not permanently glue a generic topper onto a table unless that approach is approved for the exact construction.
Clean underneath, not just on top
A removable cover can make surface cleanup convenient, but hair and moisture may remain below it. Inspect both sides and the original top. Follow separate care labels where the materials differ. For example, the Z-Lift Versa specifies damp wiping followed by drying; covering it with washable fabric does not make the underlying board washable.
Let approved washable items dry completely before storage. Check that laundering has not changed their dimensions or damaged fastening points. A once-fitted cover that has stretched or shrunk needs reassessment before another session.
Choose by the problem
For dust during indoor storage, look at a storage cover. For worn traction, investigate the correct replacement mat. For drying the dog, keep towels available as grooming supplies without treating them as a permanent tabletop upgrade. The surface comparison will help if footing is the actual concern; buying a prettier cover will not address that issue by itself.
