A low-lift grooming table is defined by where its working surface starts, not just by how far it travels. Two electric tables can reach the same grooming height while having very different entry heights. For a dog that cannot comfortably access a tall platform, that difference may drive the buying decision.
Find the minimum tabletop height
Look for a measurement from the floor to the top surface in the lowest operating position. A figure for the frame alone, the folded shipping package or the lift mechanism does not answer the same question. If a thick removable mat is included, establish whether it is part of the advertised measurement.
As a documented example, Groomer's Best lists its Low Profile Electric Grooming Table as lowering to 12.5 inches and raising to 42 inches. Those numbers belong to that product, not to all tables marketed as low profile. Check the current specification and chosen configuration before buying.
Low is still a step
Even a low starting point may require a compatible access solution for a particular dog. Plan how the animal reaches the surface, where you stand to assist, and how it exits after the session. Our ramp and step guide addresses the space and attachment checks.
For mobility limitations, have the access plan reviewed by a veterinarian or qualified groomer. Do not assume that a lower platform makes climbing appropriate for every animal. The relevant question is whether the whole transition works for this dog.
Track the table through its full travel
The footprint in the lowest position may not represent every part's location when raised. Request a dimensional drawing or operating video that shows the base and top throughout movement. Keep the required clearance from walls, furniture, stored bins and other equipment.

Check the highest useful position
Buying solely for low entry can overlook working height. Your hands need to reach the area being groomed comfortably, which depends partly on the dog's height. Compare the published range against your intended tasks using the working-height planning guide.
If two people will use the station, consider both rather than selecting around the taller person alone. An adjustable table is valuable when its usable range serves the household or business, not merely when the listing advertises a large number.
Installation can change the decision
A powered low-lift table also requires suitable power, room for its cord and a delivery route. Measure doorways and turns against the assembled or deliverable dimensions the seller supplies. Determine whether any approved assembly is needed on arrival and whether help is required to position it.
Keep the final comparison to a short set of facts: lowest surface height, highest surface height, tabletop dimensions, travel clearance and access plan. A candidate that leaves one of those unanswered needs more documentation before it earns a place on the shortlist.
