When an electric grooming table stops responding, remove it from service until the problem is understood. The first objective is a safe position for the dog and people nearby, not getting one more lift cycle out of the mechanism.
If the dog is still on the table
Stay with the dog and obtain suitable assistance for a safe exit. Do not pull the animal off a high surface or use the grooming loop to lower it. Follow any manufacturer instructions for the situation, and contact the supplier or a qualified groomer if you cannot safely resolve the access problem.
Do not repeatedly operate the control while someone is reaching under the table or trying to help the dog down. Unexpected movement can make an already awkward situation worse.
What you can record from outside
With the table empty, note exactly what occurred. Did neither direction respond, or only one? Was there an unusual sound? Had the table just been moved or cleaned? Record any displayed fault message exactly rather than paraphrasing it.
Photograph the product label and keep the manual nearby. Model and serial details help the manufacturer distinguish the actuator, controls and wiring version. A product title from an online order may cover several configurations.
Limit checks to the user instructions
Review the manual's external troubleshooting steps. These may identify an accessible switch or connection the user is intended to check. Follow the isolation procedure before any allowed handling. Do not open a pedal housing, motor, power supply or control box based on general advice from another model.
Visually check for an obvious obstruction without reaching into the mechanism. If the power cord or visible wiring is damaged, stop use. Shor-Line's grooming-table guide specifically directs owners with damaged wiring to stop using the equipment and contact technical service.
Reasons to stop troubleshooting immediately
Smoke, a burning smell, exposed wiring, liquid in electrical parts, erratic motion or unusual heat calls for stopping use and appropriate professional assistance. Do not bypass a protection device, defeat a limit switch or keep resetting a supply that trips.
An apparently loose plug is also not a reason to overlook other signs. If cleaning fluid or water might have reached powered components, explain that to the manufacturer rather than assuming the problem will disappear after drying.
Make the service request specific
Send the model, serial number, purchase details, symptoms and photographs the support team requests. Explain whether the table is under warranty and where it is installed. The warranty guide lists the documents worth keeping before a fault occurs.
Ask whether the equipment should remain unplugged, which service route is authorized and how any replacement component is to be installed. A marketplace listing for a similar pedal is not confirmation that it matches the electrical system.
Returning it to use
Follow the manufacturer's release-to-service instructions after repair. Confirm approved assembly and clearances before a dog returns; use our setup checks as an organizational aid, not a substitute for the repair procedure.
If the remaining symptom is looseness or rocking rather than loss of power, investigate it separately with the wobble guide. Restored electrical movement does not prove every mechanical part is ready.
